Another Home Safer with a New Switchboard

Today we were called out to a home in Thomastown, we found the home was still using its original switchboard from the 1960's.  The fuse contacts overheated and burnt the wire behind the switchboard.  Thankfully this did not cause another house fire started by old electrical switchboards.  We replaced the old switchboard with a new Switchboard from ABB.  The new Switchboard complies with the latest regulations.

Some of these regulations include:-

1/  Main Switch is a Circuit Breaker rated to the mains cable capacity.
2/  Minimum of two Safety Switches.
3/  No more than three circuits per Safety Switch.
4/  Sum of the protected circuit breakers not to exceed the Safety Switch rating.
5/  Work Inspected by a qualified third party.
6/  A Prescribed Certificate of Electrical Safety issued.

So, its out with the old and in with the new.

If your home has an older Switchboard, don't risk it, upgrade it!

If you are not sure if it needs replacing, send me a pic to 0431 232 796 or geoff@eppingelectrical.com and I will let you know.

Doing the Complete Job

Today we headed to an apartment in Toorak.  The owner needed a 1950's electric oven replaced.  As with most older wall ovens, they are often larger than modern wall ovens.

Interestingly this wall oven was a Frigidare made by General Motors Holden :).  Once we removed the old oven we decided to replace the Laminex panel with white Melamine particle board rather than using a metal surround to cover the gap on the sides and top.  It was a little more work but the end result was far superior.  Don't you think?

As tradesmen, sometimes you are asked to go beyond what you normally do.  This time we worked for a few hours as cabinet makers and for about 30 minutes as electricians.  From the customers perspective, they had the job done professionally at a lower cost than having multiple trades involved.

A New Vehicle On The Road For Epping Electrical

This week a new vehicle will hit the road for Epping Electrical.  Over the past month we have been busy preparing the vehicle inside and out.  We hope this new vehicle will be as recognised as the other Epping Electrical Vehicles.  Thanks to all our customers, Epping Electrical continues to grow.
